EVERY Product I Use For My NATURAL BODY CARE Routine

When shopping for body care products it’s important the ingredients are safe for your skin. I usually like to do some investigating before buying items I’ve never used before. That’s exactly what I did before purchasing these body care products.

It takes a bit more time, but it’s worth the effort to avoid putting toxic chemicals on our bodies. Here are the natural and clean products I recently purchased as part of my regular body care routine.

HOW DO I CHECK IF A PRODUCT IS SAFE TO USE?

I generally go to EWG.org (Environmental Working Group) to check the safety of products I’m interested in using. The EWG includes detailed information on thousands of products.

If you go to EWG’s Skin Deep database and search for a product, it will provide a hazard rating based on the safety of its ingredients along with detailed information about each ingredient.

TOOTHPASTE

I purchased two tubes of toothpaste — Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Whitening Plus Cool Mint Toothpaste and Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil & Neem Wintergreen Toothpaste. I’ve been using these two for a while now and enjoy them both.

DESERT ESSENCE TEA TREE OIL WHITENING COOL MINT TOOTHPASTE

I buy Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Whitening Cool Mint Toothpaste more often than Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil and Neem mainly because it helps to whiten teeth. My mouth does feel cool and minty after brushing. It has no fluoride, SLS, GMOs, or gluten. All of the ingredients are vegan and the product hasn’t been tested on animals.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to rinse your mouth with water really well after brushing your teeth with Desert Essence Natural Tea Tree Oil Whitening Plus and Tea Tree Oil & Neem Toothpaste. Both kinds of toothpaste include essential oils, which are not safe to swallow.

Still, I haven’t experienced any discomfort using either toothpaste and these have been the two I’ve mostly used for almost a year. However, speak to a qualified health care professional for oral care and health-related advice in general.

DESERT ESSENCE TEA TREE OIL & NEEM TOOTHPASTE

Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil & Neem Wintergreen Toothpaste has no sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), GMOs, artificial dyes, flavors, or gluten. It’s also cruelty-free and vegan-friendly. It has essential oils, extracts, and minerals. The tea tree oil helps to prevent cavities, while neem removes bacteria and impurities from your mouth. The wintergreen oil leaves my mouth feeling refreshed as well.

TOOTHBRUSHES

WOOBAMBOO! TOOTHBRUSHES

I purchased the WooBamboo! Toothbrush. As you can see in the photo above I bought toothbrushes for my family also. I got two adult WooBamboo! medium bristle toothbrushes and a soft bristles toothbrush. I also picked up Woobamboo! Toothbrushes for kids — two per pack.

Woobamboo! Toothbrushes are organically grown, coated in natural vegan-friendly wax, non-toxic, and BPA-free.

The bristles are made from Dupon Tynex of the highest quality dental grade. The handle is made from biodegradable and sustainably-grown Moso bamboo and can be added to compost after removing the bristles. These toothbrushes are also packaged from recycled material.

FACIAL CLEANSER

DESERT ESSENCE THOROUGHLY CLEAN FACE WASH

Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash does exactly that. This face wash thoroughly cleanses your face. A little goes a long way with this soap. You may not want to apply too much to avoid drying out your skin. This facial cleanser is designed to remove oil and other impurities without stripping skin of natural oils.

There are no Parabens, Phthalates, Artificial Fragrances or Dyes, Silicones, EDTA, Propylene glycol, Mineral oil, Petrolatum, Paraffin, or Phosphates in this face wash. It’s vegan and cruelty-free.

Interestingly, the only product I can find online similar to this is Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean “Tea Tree Oil” Face Wash for oily skin. It seems these two are the same, although I’m not 100% sure. I may have to contact Desert Essence to find out.

However, I compared the ingredients in the product I purchased (Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean “Original Formula” Face Wash) to the one online (Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean “Tea Tree Oil” Face Wash) and they are precisely the same.

FACE SCRUB

ACURE BRIGHTENING FACIAL SCRUB

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub detoxes cleanses and brightens skin. Some of its highlighted natural ingredients include sea kelp, French green clay, chlorella, lemon peel, sage, and blackberry. This facial scrub is also free from parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, petrolatum, formaldehyde, and animal cruelty.

I love how soft my skin feels after using this facial scrub. The sea kelp, French, green clay, and madonna lily work together to detox, cleanse, and brighten skin.

FACE CREAM

MAD HIPPIE FACE CREAM

I purchased Mad Hippie Face Cream with 15 actives. It includes antioxidant-rich ingredients such as acai berry, pomegranate, and green tea. It also includes anti-aging ingredients, such as argan oil, which is an incredible source of vitamin E.

My face usually has a soft glow after I moisturize with this cream.

DEODORANT

HUMBLE PALO SANTO & FRANKINCENSE DEODORANT

Humble Palo Santo & Frankincense Deodorant is one of my favorite deodorants to date. I love that it has a small number of ingredients and they’re all natural. I love the scent as well. But, I didn’t purchase it for myself during this shopping haul. This was a gift to my sister who shared afterward that she loves the smell of Palo Santo also.

It’s made with only MCT oil, non-GMO corn starch, baking soda, bees wax, essential oils, and botanical extracts. This seems to be a great choice if your skin is sensitive to other deodorants with baking soda. It’s vegan and made with 75% post-consumer recycled plastic.

ALAFFIA EVERYDAY COCONUT CHARCOAL DEODORANT

I bought Alaffia Everyday Coconut Charcoal Deodorant for myself. It’s made with no synthetic fragrance, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, aluminum, mineral oil, propylene glycol, propanediol, triclosan, or silicone. I like knowing when I purchase Alaffia products I’m supporting fair trade along with West African women and families.

In my personal experience, this deodorant works best if you engage in minimal physical activity throughout the day.

You may need to refresh and reapply within 24 hours if you have an active lifestyle. But, this is quite common with many natural deodorants, which don’t include chemicals that clog pores and mask the odor.

But, as I mentioned previously, this is just my personal experience and the results may vary depending on each person’s body and lifestyle.

SHAMPOO

ALAFFIA EVERYDAY PASSION FRUIT SHAMPOO

Alaffia Everyday Passion Fruit Shampoo is made with only 6 safe and gentle ingredients: shea leaf extract, shea butter, coconut oil, coco-betaine, decyl glucoside, and passion fruit extract. I like that this is a gentle cleanser and doesn’t feel like it’s stripping my hair of its natural oils.

Also, it’s vegan, cruelty-free, and biodegradable.

CONDITIONER

ALAFFIA EVERYDAY PURELY COCONUT CONDITIONER

Alaffia Everyday Purely Coconut Conditioner has no parabens, phthalates, SLS, synthetic fragrance or dyes, and mineral oil. It’s vegan, not tested on animals, and biodegradable. This conditioner is gentle and has a mild scent.

BODY WASH

ALAFFIA EVERYDAY COCONUT PURELY COCONUT BODY WASH

As you can see by now, I enjoy using Alaffia products. Alaffia Purely Coconut Body Wash is made without silicones, sulfates, phthalates, parabens, mineral oil, artificial colors, and synthetic fragrance. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, and biodegradable.

Though the ingredients are delicate, it cleanses well. It also has a soft smell.

LOTION

EVERYONE CITRUS + MINT HAND AND BODY LOTION

Only a few staple products in my family’s body care routine are EWG Verified, and they’re all made by the brand Everyone. Everyone Citrus + Mint Hand & Body Lotion is the lotion I bought, which is EWG Verified. This means it meets EWGs strict safety standards. Seeing the EWG Verified mark on a product lets me know it’s free from harmful chemicals.

This lotion is free from fillers, synthetic dyes, fragrance, parabens, and phthalates. It smells refreshingly citrusy and sweet from orange and peppermint essential oils. It also has healthy skin-promoting ingredients, such as coconut oil, aloe vera, and vitamin E.

COLLAGEN PROTEIN

ANCIENT NUTRITION MULTI COLLAGEN PROTEIN

So far this is my go-to collagen protein powder. It’s the Ancient Nutrition Guava Passionfruit Multi Collagen Protein. I love this flavor and I usually mix it with water and HealthForce SuperFoods Vitamineral Green powder unless I run out and need to reorder. Then I’ll mix it with another green drink blend, such as Suja.

There are ingredients in this collagen protein that are clinically proven to support skin, nail, and joint health. That’s why I like to keep it as part of my regular skincare routine.

Well, these were all the body care items I picked up during this shopping trip. Including non-toxic personal care items in our daily routine is an important habit in order to take care of our skin and body health.
