BAKING SODA TOOTHPASTE

Baking soda is great for many things, and one of them is toothpaste. I’ve used baking soda, probably more often than any other toothpaste since I transitioned to a more natural lifestyle.

Baking soda is natural and affordable. It does an awesome job cleaning and whitening teeth. Just add water to your baking soda, but a little at a time. Trust me. A little water goes a long way.

The toothpaste shouldn’t be clumpy, but it shouldn’t be watery either. Your baking soda toothpaste should have an evenly smooth consistency.

I’ve also used baking soda and peroxide often. Just replace the water with peroxide.

I usually don’t measure. I eyeball each ingredient until I get the consistency I want. If it’s too thick, I add more peroxide. If the mixture is too watery, I add a little more baking soda.

This has been the primary toothpaste I’ve used for years. One reason is that many store-bought kinds of toothpaste claim to be natural, but include harmful ingredients you don’t want to put in your mouth. They’re oftentimes expensive too.

I don’t mind paying more for quality items. But, I don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for a product that’s supposed to be safe and doesn’t amount to what it claims.

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN USING BAKING SODA TOOTHPASTE

If you’re planning to use this homemade toothpaste be mindful that there are mixed ideas on how often to brush with it. Some say brushing with baking soda every day can weaken your enamel.

In my personal experience, I haven’t had any trouble with my teeth. However, I’ve gotten many compliments on how white they look. Also, remember it’s mildly abrasive so be sure not to brush too hard.

vitacoco coconut oil

VITA COCO VIRGIN COCONUT OIL

I use this coconut oil as a skin moisturizer when I get out of the shower. I use the Vita Coco brand quite often and really like it. It’s pretty much a staple item for food and the body. I use other brands too, but this is one I use most frequently.

One of the best things about using coconut oil is that it’s only one ingredient. It’s completely natural. You don’t have to do detective work to figure out what’s in it.

virgin coconut oil

The medical journal Food and Function published research showing coconut oil improves antioxidant levels and slows aging. Definitely keeping it as a staple in my home! Unrefined or virgin is best. Refined coconut oil is processed and loses its nutrients.

I hope you enjoyed my complete list of clean skincare products for my morning routine. It’s simple, basic, and affordable. But, most importantly the products don’t include many toxic chemicals commonly found in body care products.

As always, keep it natural and stay blessed.
